Hyderabad: The supporters of Telangana and united Andhra movements are spreading their hate on the Internet. Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter are now flooded with hate messages. Defamatory content and abuses are aplenty in the posts of individual supporters on their FB profile page.

Facebook pages like I hate Telangana, I hate Andhra slang, We Hate KCR, Telangana Our Birthright are slowly gaining momentum among Netizens. Some even share meme photographs that say, “1 like = 1,000 slaps to KCR.” The uncertainty over T has hit the people as discussions, debates and forums in their hundreds are adding fuel to the fire.

Psychologists say that the environment has a direct impact on thoughts. Dr Minhaj Nasirabadi, a consultant psychiatrist at Apollo Hospitals, said that sometimes the thought process becomes irreversible, which proves to be very dangerous.

“This is a usual phenomenon when there are regional conflicts. When someone significant is making statements and putting forward his opinions, it is obvious that people get influenced by it. The differences which did not count till recently suddenly become major unresolvable things. You start hating people who have a different opinion,” he said.

Facebook itself has about 18 search results for hate messages. Twitter and YouTube have many such related audio and video content. Some pages are titled, I hate Andhra slang, I like Telangana, but I hate KCR and all these pages have at least 100 registered members.

Consultant psychiatrist Choudhary of Chetana Hospital said that sometimes personal experiences change the thought process. “The environment is making them think like that. The longer the uncertainty lasts, the more the hatred,” he said.

Back then, when the movement was at its peak, things were worse. People could not stand each other. But, then again till about five years ago we did not even talk about it. And now, we are back at the same state. Such incidents will need only time to heal,” he said.
