Telangana Advocates JAC and members of unified Andhra Advocate JAC clash at the APNGO Bhavan in Abids on Sunday. DC

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at the APNGO Bhavan in Abids on Sunday when Telangana advocate JAC members tried to interfere in a meeting of Unified Andhra Advocate JAC.

An argument broke out between the members of the two JACs followed by a minor scuffle between the groups. Abids police arrested advocates from both the groups as a preventive measure to keep the situation under control.

The TAJAC members said no anti-Telangana meetings should be held in Hyderabad. The agitators who entered into the building shouting slogans, allegedly tore the banners posters of unified state.

Abids police sub-inspector T.D. Naidu said police booked a case against the agitators under section 151 of the CrPc. APNGO activists and other Samaykyandra supporters condemned the attack by TAJAC on Sunday evening.

A large contingent of employees from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions will meet A K Antony committee and leaders of opposition parties in New Delhi from Monday to voice their demand for unified state.

The delegation comprising representatives of striking APNGOs and other employees’ organisations will stay in the national capital for three days. “We will not agree for anything other than unified Andhra Pradesh,” said P Ashok Babu, president of APNGOs association.

Ashok Babu also said the physical attacks by the T protagonists on people demanding unified state would only intensify the samaikhyandhra agitation. We never obstructed T agitations nor spoke against their leaders, he said adding that all that the Seemandhra employees have been asking is withdrawal of the UPA decision to divide the state.

States: Andhra Pradesh
