Kochi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has told schools affiliated that they will not be able to register students for the crucial board exams unless they develop their own website and upload required information about the schools.

The CBSE has come out with this stern warning in a circular to principals and school managements, as many schools have failed to develop websites, despite board Chairman Vineet Joshi giving a direction in this regard as far back as 2010. As a second step, the CBSE linked the compliance in this regard to registration of class IX and class XI students of each affiliating school.

Now students of such schools face the prospect of not being able to appear for the final board exams in class X and class XII. The CBSE has also stated that the responsibility of students not being able to appear for the board exam will squarely lie with the management of such schools. According to the principal of a school, the CBSE has set September 15 as the deadline to set up websites and file the required information.

The information to be provided on websites include affiliation status, infrastructure details, name, designation and salary of teachers, fee structure, class-wise enrollment of students and details of the school management committee.

The process in this regard was initiated by the CBSE following the directions of the Central Information Commission in the interest of transparency in the administration of schools.R
