DMK leader Dayanidhi Maran has been accused of receiving kickbacks to the tune of Rs 700 crore from Maxis Communications. CBI says he misused 323 telephone connections from BSNL during his tenure as the telecom minister and caused the Government a huge loss. Maran, who succeeded A Raja as telecom minister, quit office in 2011 after being implicated by CBI in the 2G case.

New Delhi: With the CBI receiving financial sanctions from the Centre for availing the services of private financial experts in its on-going probe into the Aircel-Maxis deal, involving former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran, more trouble seems to be in store for him.

Sources said, “The CBI has almost completed its probe against former telecom minister and others. Now it will engage private financial experts for finalising its chargesheet.”

The CBI has received financial sanctions from the government in this regard, sources added.
