Hyderabad: Campus placements for Engineering students in the city for this academic year has started on a positive note with Microsoft recruiting eight students from Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology, Gandipet, at a salary of Rs 11 lakh per annum each.

This year, CBIT is the only engineering campus in the city which Microsoft has visited so far. The company is expected to visit Osmania Engineering College and JNTU-Hyderabad soon.

The eight students pursuing Final Year B.Tech courses in computer science engineering and information technology streams are Chirra Sreekar Reddy, Kanganpreet Kaur, Abhishek Reddy, Sudha Parimala, Vennela Kulkarni, Tejaswini Kanigolla, Prathyusha Thota and Sridhar Mocherla.

“Microsoft is a dream company for software engineers. We are happy that the firm initiated its campus placement drive for this session with CBIT and recruited eight of our students by offering packages of Rs 11 lakh per annum. While the eight Final Year students were picked up for full-time employment, the company has also selected Third Year students for internships,” said D. Kamalakar Reddy, secretary and correspondent, CBIT.

CBIT placement officer N.L.N. Reddy said that the company will pay Rs 20,000 per month to the students during internship.

Though the state has over 700 Engineering colleges, the campus placement drives by major companies will be confined to only a few selected colleges in the city that figure in the top colleges’ list.
