Hyderabad: YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s indefinite fast entered the third day on Tuesday. The Kadapa MP is on an indefinite fast to protest against the Centre’s unilateral decision to bifurcate the state since Sunday.
The Chanchalguda jail officials released the health bulletin on Tuesday evening. According to it, Jagan’s health condition is stable. Blood pressure, sugar and pulse rate are at a normal level.
YSRC activists and Jagan’s supporters turned up in large numbers at the Chanchalguda jail to express solidarity with their leader. Police arrested as many 150 supporters of Jagan on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, TD leaders alleged that Vijayalakshmi and others went to Delhi to seek bail for Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“YS Rajasekhar Reddy laid the foundation for Telangana by sending 41 MLAs and then forging alliance with TRS in 2004. YSRC which backed Telangana is now talking about justice. Can they explain what it means,” asked TD MP, Venugopal Reddy said in New Delhi.
Reddy and other suspended TD MPs said the PMO should clarify if Vijayalakshmi’s claim that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had said the issue of bifurcation would not have come up if YSR was alive today.
“Vijayalakshmi has come to New Delhi for her son’s sake and not for Samaikhya Andhra. She is here to chalkout seat adjustment with the Congress and ensure bail for Jagan,” Narayana alleged.
He said that though they were in good health, the government forcibly ended their fast at Gandhi statue in Parliament premises late last night and took them to hospital. “We will continue our protest till we get justice,” he said.
