Khammam: Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday said that Bhadrachalam division is an integral part of Khammam district.
Speaking to media on Tuesday, he dwelt at length on the history of Bhadrachalam while substantiating his argument that the division will be part and parcel of Telangana.
Pointing out to the tradition that Nizams used to send Talambralu to Lord Rama’s Bhadradri temple on Ramnavami, he tried to drive home the point that the temple town was very much part of Khammam.
He said that it was not proper to raise a hue and cry over the Centre’s decision to carve out Telangana state as all the parties and leaders had given their consent.
Revealing details of his letter to the Anthony committee, Vikramarka said that he had urged them not to yield to the pressure exerted by Seemandhra leaders’ for merging Bhadrachalam with Andhra.
Later, conducting a review meet with the officials, he directed them to ensure irrigation water to even to tail-end fields under Nagarjunasagar project canal.
He told irrigation executive engineer A. Prasad to take steps to fill all the tanks in Madhira, Mudigonda, Yerrupalem, Chintakani and Bonakal mandals.
