Transco employees Joint Action Committee stage a dharna at finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy’s house demanding his resignation in the wake of the Samaikyandhra agitation in Nellore on Friday. — DC
Nellore: District Officers’ Association has been making elaborate arrangements for the proposed ‘Samaikyandhra Simha Garjana’ rally scheduled for September 5 at Nellore.Officials have been planning to mobilise at least one lakh people for the event, which will commence from Sri Potti Sriramulu statue near Atmakur bus stand and culminate at A.C Subba Reddy Sports Stadium in Dargamitta.The rally is being taken out under the auspices of Samaikyandhra Porata Vedika, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district. Educational institutes and engineering colleges offered to send their students and teachers to participate in the rally.
Similarly, trade unions, different people forums, chamber of commerce, caste associations, students’ JAC and other org-anisations are also mobilising people for the rally.
Some supporters of the agitation came forward to extend monitory support for the programme and the officials allotted them specific tasks such as arranging stage, printing of handouts and arranging water, buttermilk etc at the venue.
Additional joint collector Ch. Penchal Reddy and district revenue officer B. Rami Reddy have inspected the AC Subba Reddy stadium on Friday and gave instructions to the sports wing officials over the erection of barricades and the stage.
