Hyderabad: Four Seemandhra ministers have decided to quit their posts and submit their resignation letters to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan directly.
Infrastructure minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, law minister Erasu Pratap Reddy, animal husbandry minister Pinipe Viswa Roop and cooperative minister Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy will meet the Governor on Monday and submit their resignations.
The four ministers had handed in their resignations to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy three weeks ago, opposing the Congress high command’s decision to divide the state.Srinivas Rao on Sunday announced to the media that he will meet the Governor on Monday and submit his resignation to him directly and see that it is accepted.Pratap Reddy and Viswa Roop also announced their resignations.Srinivas Rao who is close to Union minister K. Chiranjeevi, spoke to him and informed him of his decision. “Everyone wants to quit, but no one is coming forward. If somebody takes the initiative others may follow,” said one of the Seemandhra ministers.
He said that they had put in all their efforts to persuade the party high command to change its decision on state division, but were told repeatedly that there is no going back on the decision.Kiran Kumar Reddy is very firm on his stand on united Andhra Pradesh, but sometimes his comments in internal discussions are creating doubts that he will fall in with the high command’s line on state division, said a Seemandhra minister.
It was not clear yet whether the four ministers will quit the Congress, too, and join some other political party — Telugu Desam or YSRC in the state.
