Hyderabad: Arrested Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative Yasin Bhatkal has told National Investigation Agency (NIA) interrogators that his Pakistan-based handlers had instructed him to target Hyderabad, the growing IT hub, to ensure that multinationals do not set up or expand their businesses in the city.
Yasin, who admitted to conspiring and organising the Dilsukhnagar blasts, revealed that he had supplied the improvised explosive devices (IED) for the blasts. He had procured a large quantity of ammonium nitrate in 2007, said sources.
According to sources, Asadullah Akhtar alias Tabrez, was one of the suspects who had planted the bicycle bombs at Dilsukhnagar. The Dilsukhnagar twin blasts that killed 17 people were planned in Karachi, where the absconding Bhatkal brothers, Riyaz and Iqbal, are lodged.
Yasin and Tabrez have revealed that the Bhatkal brothers are at an ISI safehouse in Defence Colony, Phase-4, at Karachi in Pakistan.
Riyaz apparently used the e-mail id “lovelyhunk34” to communicate with Yasin and others.
