Strike forces T-struck colleges to return

Hyderabad: Corporate colleges are shifting students from their Seemandhra branches to Hyderabad to ensure that classes are not disrupted on account of the ongoing United AP agitation.

Educational institutions in Seemandhra region have been facing a complete shutdown since August 1, after the Centre announced its decision in favour of a Telangana state.

Corporate colleges, known for producing toppers in entrance tests for IITs, NITs, top deemed universities, Eamcet etc., have branches in all the major cities in Seemandhra and Telangana regions. They also have exclusive batches to train top scorers in Class X exams in residential mode to garner top ranks at national-level competitive exams.

During the Telangana agitation between 2009-end and 2012, which witnessed heavy disruption of academic activities in the city, these colleges had shifted their students from Hyderabad to Seemandhra.

The colleges adopt a “well-devised strategy” to produce toppers in national-level entrance tests. They shortlist brilliant students who have sharp analytical and grasping skills from among all their branches and train them at a single location with highly qualified faculty for almost 18 hours a day in residential mode for a period of two years after SSC.

Any disruption of classes for these students may mar the prospects of these colleges to secure top ranks in national-level entrance tests.

Thus, not willing to take any chances, the colleges are shifting their students to other cities for training even by incurring additional expenditure.

“Earlier, we had shifted our students from Hyderabad to Seemandhra region when the T-agitation was at its peak. Now there is disruption in academic activities in the Seemandhra region and we have no other option but to shift them to Hyderabad to ensure there are no disturbances,” said a faculty member of a corporate college.

The intensive training is such that though not even two months have passed since the new academic year has commenced, the  colleges have already finished the entire Inter Second Year course.
